Patmos Island
The Dodecanese Islands, the most southern islands of Greece, are a
chain of twelve cresent-shaped islands that border the Turkish Coast.
These islands have similar cultural and architectural characterists of
the Cycladic islands and several islands such as Rhodes and Kos
are abundant with natural springs allowing a green and wooded
environment.
Rhodes Island
Rhodes:
The island of the Knights of St. John and home of one of 'the
Seven Wonders of the World', the Colossus of Rhodes which
used to straddle the narrow entrance to the port.  Rhodes is the
largest island of the Dodecanese and has a history of trade
between Asia, Europe and Africa.

The numerous castles, impressive fortifications and the
mediaeval character of the town pay homage to it's history of being
settle and fortified by the Minoans, Persians, Arabs, Turks, Italians
and the Crusaders.
Simi
Simi lies in the entrance to the Gulf of Doris and has a history of sponge diving
and shipbuilding.  Secluded in its bay and surrounded by pine trees, Simi greets
you at sunset with a tranquility seldom experienced.  Enjoy it's cosmopolitan small
harbour with many fine restaurants and boutiques.
Kos Island
Kos was founded in 366BC and was the home of Hippocrates,
the father of modern medicine.  Architecturally, the island is
strongly influenced by Turkish and Frankish tradition.  Sandy
beaches and fascinating ruins inspire on to explore this central
island.  The island has been called an absolute Eden, covered in
bougainvillea, oleander, jasmine and hibiscus.
Leros is a quaint, picturesque and colourful island in the
Greek tradition.  Enjoy an ouzo in one of the quiet streets
at attraditional ouzeria.
Kalimnos Island
Kalimnos is the centre of modern sponge fishing.  The harbour
bustles with traditonal fishing boats and the dramatic mountain
range of Profitis Ilias is impressive from seaward.
Patmos is a must-see island of this area.
The fortress-like monastery of 'St. John the
Divine', high on the summit, dominates the
island.  St John is said to have written the
Apocalypse, found in the Book of
Revelations, on this peaceful and enchanting
island.  The chora of Patmos, with its
whitewashed houses and unique
architecture surrounds the castle.
Patmos
From Rhodes, it is also possible to visit the very unique islands of Nisiros
(volcanic) and
Chalki.
